2018 J. Wilkes Bourbon Barrel Cabernet Sauvignon
Paso Robles Highlands District

Aromas: A beautifully long, slightly cooler growing season in Paso in 2018 gives this Bourbon Barrel Cabernet Sauvignon a trace of blackberry and 'Paso dust' with some amazing complexity added from the George Dickel and Buffalo Trace Bourbon barrels. Hints of toffee, chocolate nibs, cedar and honeyed whiskey.
Mouth: Another intensely complete wine from our winemaking team, and one that can overdeliver on its price point from day one. Juicy entry leads to a broad coomplex mid-palate, with layers of red and blackberry fruits, earth and tannin all playing their part. Finishes with age-worthy tannins, cedar, coffee and whiskey from the cooperage.
Food Pairing: New York or Porterhouse steak, scalloped potatoes loaded with butter and cheese and smothered in a red wine reduction sauce.
